What is NetAthlon (NA)? What is the advantage of purchasing it?

It is the first interactive fitness software out on the market. Plus we are the only company who offers web racing for Free.

NetAthlon® is the most exciting fitness experience you can add to your fitness and weight loss program. You convert your fitness machine into a multimedia entertainment internet training and racing device. This software application acts as a bridge between a fitness machine and a Personal Computer. The program contains drivers for many fitness machines, and you simply load the program and pick your fitness machine from the menu. Choose your course and you are ready to Ride, Run or Row - Train or Compete in virtual reality.

There are also many options: Web Racing™ on the Internet, exciting new courses, networking for training and racing, benchmarking your performance in UltraCoach software, customizing your characters to name a few.

Do I need the Internet to use NetAthlon?

No, you can use NetAthlon without the internet for your own personal use. However, if you want to race with others, then you will need the internet.

What is Web Racing™?

This feature of NetAthlon is a utility that connects you and your fitness machine to another fitness machine or group of fitness machines via a server or network hub. NetAthlon supports GameSpy Arcade™ network making it even easier to setup sessions with others from various locations.

We offer a free Fifteen-day trial so you can check out our products before purchasing. After fifteen days, you must purchase the software to continue to use the product.

I heard about customizing characters. Where can I get more info on it?

NetAthlon enables you to customize your characters and users have done just that. Instructions on how to customize your characters can be found in the NetAthlon Users Group. You will need to join this group (takes minutes) and with a little work your courses and races can include famous riders. Parts of our software are open to users to customize their copy. Can I create custom characters myself?

It is actually quite easy and people have successfully changed character and bike.

Here are some steps if you want to give it a go:

  1. You need to convert .dds files to a format that it can be edited in. You can use DDS Converter (2.1) which can be found using the following link and selecting a mirror near the bottom of the page.

  2. Next select the color of your bike/character as a template for your customization. Ex: RoadBike02_Red.DDS & RoadRiderMale_Red.DDS found in
    "C:\Program Files\FitCentric Products\NetAthlon2_for_Bikes\Characters\RoadBike\Textures"
  3. Convert these files using the above DDS converter then make changes.
  4. Next you will need to create a folder for the custom characters. First make a folder "CustomTextures" under the NA2_install_directory\Characters\RoadBike
    e.g. "C:\Program Files\FitCentricProducts\NetAthlon2_for_Bikes\Characters\RoadBike\CustomTextures"
  5. Under the CustomTextures folder create a folder for your custom character.
    e.g. You can create a custom character called Fred,
    "C:\Program Files\FitCentricProducts\NetAthlon2_for_Bikes\Characters\
    RoadBike\CustomTextures\Fred
  6. In the directory Fred (C:\Program Files\FitCentricProducts\NetAthlon2_for_Bikes\Characters\
    RoadBike\CustomTextures\Fred) place the two files modified earlier "RoadBike02_Red.DDS & RoadRiderMale_Red.DDS"
  7. Rename the file "RoadBike02_Red.DDS" to "Bike02.DDS"
    Rename the file "RoadRiderMale_Red.DDS" to "Male.DDS"

Note: for the changes to appear you will need to select the custom character directory created in the Personal Settings screen. Also you will need to select the trek road bike (Bike02) and the Male Character.

Do your software's only support bikes?

NetAthlon 1.0, NetAthlon 2.0, and UltraCoach supports bikes, bike trainers, treadmills, ellepticals, and rowers.

My fitness equipment is not supported. Is there a retrofit device or alternative way to connect my fitness equipment to my computer?

Does the Peak Sensor Kit work with any bike trainer, rollers, spin bikes, exercise bikes or rowing machine?

Yes, what is needed is to attach the magnet to a wheel and the sensor will pickup the spinning of the wheel for the speed. For bikes, the cadence sensor will connect on to the crank arm.

Will the Peak Sesnor Kit adjust the resistance on a bike trainer?

The system does not adjust the resistance on your bike trainer, but you will see the hills coming at you, and in the info box you will see the grade increasing. So what you can do is, when you are going up hills, you can down shift for more resistance. This will give you the workout and will improve your form and balance for when you are on the real road.

How does Peak system differ from the other systems?

The way we differ is, we do not cost $1500.00. We looked at them back 4 years ago and felt that they were way to expensive as they are now and decided to make Peak Training System, you shouldn't have to miss a mortgage payment to train. They have a lot of bells & whistles that would be fun to play with, but you are paying for something you would be using once a year. We use NetAthlon software as do they, but we give you the info that you need to train - speed, cadence, power, time, drafting and the optional HRM.

How do I connect my computer to my machine?

Depending on your equipment, your exercise equipment connects to your computer using the USB or serial cable that should have been supplied in the packaging with your fitness equipment. Your computer may require a USB to Serial dongle that can be purchased separately through our store.

My fitness equipment is supported but does not seem to work. What can I do?

There are a few things that we can have you check to see if we can get your fitness equipment to respond. The first thing to check is the connection between your exercise machine and the computer.

You may not have selected the right COM port or equipment driver. Within the NetAthlon software, you make both of these selections. Go to the Equipment Settings page. Make sure that the proper equipment has been selected in the driver menu. If this is set properly, then go to the COM selection port and select the correct port.

One way to check the COM port your equipment is connected to is by doing the following:
1. Right-click on the My Computer icon and select Properties.
2. Click on the Device Manager tab at the top of the window.
3. Go down to “Ports (COM & LPT)” and expand the branch by clicking on the "+".
4. You will then be able to locate the correct COM Port you equipment is connected to.

If you think you selected the right COM Port, we would recommend you trying the other COM Ports options available.

Lastly, It could be that you bought the latest series/model which is not yet supported by NethAthlon software. However, we are constantly working to update our driver selection. Click here to view the list of compatible fitness machines and fitness devices.

I need to authorize my software or courses with my serial number. How do I do that?

For NA 2.0, please go to the authorization page and choose Internet Authorization option. For NA 1.0, go to Unlock Program/Courses and choose Authorizeusing Serial number. Then use your serial number to authorize automatically. You will be asked to input your personal data as well. Please make sure that you input accurate information. If you are encountering any difficulties, please fill out the support form to report a problem and we will work with you to complete this step.

I cant' authorize automatically (Internet Authorization) using my serial number due to Firewall Issues. What shall I do?

Make sure you have UPDATED software. You can update your software by clicking on the Update button on the bottom of software's control panel.

Otherwise, you will have to go through manual authorization. For this option, go to the authorization page and choose Manual Authorization option. You will have to send a site code via email to get a site key. Site code is a unique code which is used to authorize the software or courses manually. On the subject line of the email, please mention "Site Key Request" and send us your Name, Serial Number, and Site Code.

Note: Please make sure that you don't try anything once you send us the site code as site code is something which changes when you try doing something related to authorization. Also, to be on a safe side, before applying the site key we send you, please make sure that the site code is the same as the one you sent us.

When I try to authorize using my serial number, I get an error saying that I have exceeded my limit. How do I authorize if this happens?

If this happens, please fill out the support form with your inquiries and they will increase the authorization limit for you.

I recently upgraded my software to NetAthlon 2.0. However, all my NetAthlon 1.0 courses are still locked.

This is a very common question. Buying an upgrade does not unlock all your courses instantly. Technical Support will send you an email containing directions on how to unlock the same list of courses you have unlocked in NetAthlon 1. If you don't receive an email within 24 hours, then please fill out the support form with your inquiries.

What are the minimum system requirements for NetAthlon 1.0 and NetAthlon 2.0?

NetAthlon 1.0
Minimum: Pentium III-class CPU, 128MB RAM, DirectX 8-compatible graphics with 32MB graphics memory, Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
Recommended: Pentium 4-class CPU, 256MB RAM, DirectX 8-compatible graphics with 128MB graphics memory, Windows XP

NetAthlon 2.0
Minimum: Pentium 4-class CPU, 256MB RAM, DirectX 9-compatible graphics with 64MB graphics memory, Windows XP
Recommended: Pentium 4-class CPU, 512MB RAM, Nvidia or ATI graphics with 256MB graphics memory, Windows XP

Note: We currently support Windows Vista except the 64 bit version.

My course (s) freezes at the countdown on NetAthlon 2.0. What can I do?

Make sure you have the UPDATED software. You can update your software by clicking on the Update button on the bottom of software's control panel.

I always get the error "/E-Access Violation" on NetAthlon 2.0. What can I do?

Firstly, make sure you have updated the software.

If you have the latest version, it could be because of your low computer configuration such as your memory or graphics card. We only support Windows XP. It may or may not work with other version of Windows. Please make sure that your computer meets the minimum requirements above.

In terms of graphic card, make sure you meet the minimum requirements above. If you don't meet the minimum requirements and upgrade your graphic card, please make sure that you uninstall NA 2.0 and all the courses before doing so.

If you meet the minimum graphics requirement and are still encountering the problem, then make sure you have the latest driver for your graphics card. You can get the latest driver from the manufacture's website.

Another option would be changing the video settings. This would mean deselecting the 3D grass or Shadow/Shading option on the software's video settings. If that didn't fix the problem, you should set the Ambient Vehicle Density to zero.

Which graphic driver would you recommend for NA 2.0?

Some of the NA 2.0 users have had success with:
ATI Radeon Saphire X800 GTO AGP version with 256MB
ATI Radeon X600 Series, 256MB, 8.301.0.0 driver
ATI Radeon 9200 SE AGP 128 MB
GeForce 6600 256 MB RAM with version 7.8.0.1 of the driver (dated 8/2/05)

Is there away to go back and upgrade performance files to NetAthlon 2.0 after you upgrade from NetAhlon 1.0 to NetAthlon 2.0. Is there a stand alone utility? I upgrade some of the past performance files but not all during the upgrade.

Yes, run the course optimizer again. Click on Windows Start and select "All Programs | FitCentric Products | Optimize NetAthlon 2 Course Files".

Can I save my workouts and transfer in to UltraCoach?

Yes, your fitness data is stored in the Raw Files folder which you can transfer to UltraCoach.
For NA 1.0: C:\Program Files\FitCentric Products\NetAthlon\Raw Files
For NA 2.0: C:\Program Files\FitCentric Products\NetAthlon2_for_Bikes\Raw Files

If I have both NetAthlon 1.0 and NetAthlon 2.0 and buy a course for one of them, will it be updated on both NetAthlon 1.0 and NA 2.0?

No, you will have to buy them separately.

How do I get more courses?

The installation CD has more courses that you can preview in the "Preview Window". These are locked. When you click on that course you will see a dialogue box that will lead the user through an online purchase protocol. Nearly instantly the course can be purchased, authorized, and used right away.
You can also download courses from here. You can preview the course for free, and then purchase and authorized it.

The other option of buying the courses is from E-store.

How long does it take for an order to be shipped?

If you order NetAthlon 1.0, NetAthlon 2.0, NetAthlon 2.0 Upgrade, Courses, or UltraCoach from e-store, you will get the download link instantly. Please allow up to 24 hours to receive your serial number and directions on how to authorize the purchased product.

If you order from the software itself, you will be authorized instantly. However, if you order the NetAthlon 2.0 Upgrade, please allow up to 24 hours to receive directions on how to authorize your NA 1.0 courses to NA 2.0.

If you order a non-software product, please allow up to 7 business days for it to be shipped.

What is your Return Policy?

We don't refund software related purchases. That includes NetAthlon 1.0, NetAthlon 2.0, NetAthlon 2.0 Upgrade, Courses, and UltraCoach.

You may return non-software product within 14 days of delivery for a full refund, if the product is still in the original wrapping. You are responsible for S/H for returning the product back. Your order will be refunded for all charges less the initial shipping.
